Where does the time go?

I have spent the work day looking for Amaryllis gift sets, ordering Christmas balls, and trying to call Italy! It started like this, I call to place the usual Gallery order of Amaryllis and Paperwhites for delivery in October---so sorry we are sold out!

UGH time to find a new nursery. Do you know how many varieties of Amaryllis there are? Definately over 20 to start and then there are sizes 30 cm 23cm. And the names sheesh! Apple blossom, clown, ferrari, star of hollandand on and on....

The botanic name Amaryllis is taken from a shepherdess in Virgil's pastoral "Eclogues," from the Greek αμαρυσσω (Latin amarysso) meaning "to sparkle."
It is used as a given namee for females. The plant is also known as the "Jersey Lily", named after the Channel Island. I have always thought this flower was very pretty and festive for the holidays but I had no idea they were so complex. You learn something new everyday!

By the way, something else I have learned today...people take their flowers very seriously
